DEC. 13, 1940. THE ANNISTON STAR PAGE NINE Jolly Cakes Still Remain Delightful Christmas Gifts mocha layer cake for a surprise gift. peanut butter, 1-2 sweetened condensed milk, 1-2 cups sifted confectioner's sugar. Mix sugar, peanut butter and condensed milk.

Gradually add confectioner's sugar. Beat until smooth and creamy. Spread on cold cake. Sprinkle top with peanuts. Place peanut men and animals around edge of plate.

Individual Candle Cakes make delightful Christmas gifts, too. Use the same cake recipe -AS given above, but bake the batter in small well greased custard cups. Cover top and sides with glistening white boiled icing and sprinkle with shredded cocoanut. In the center of each brilliant little cake, place green candle holder and a tiny red candle. New Hope Mr.

Phone 602 THREE STORES HESS 'CHILD WOMAN' OF EAST TEXAS BEGINS SCHOOL Exhaustive Study Made Of Unusual Case Of Girl Of Five BY ROY J. FORREST United Press Staff Correspondent HOUSTON, Tex. Dec. fiveyear-old girl, unaware that she 1s known as Houston's "child has started to kindergarten in the piney woods of East Texas. She also is unaware that medical science is carefully watching her psychological development, along with the physical growth, which at two years, was equal to, a girl of 16.

Dr. Karl John Karnaky, Houston necologist. discovered last spring that the child had the physical development of a mature girl. Since then $10,000 has been spent In searching medical study of her case. At her farm home about 40 miles north of here, the little girl entered school, with great anticipation.

But physicians studying the case recognized psychological dangers which could wreck her later life. Tumor Suspected When the child was brought to Dr. Karnaky nine months ago, it was believed her abnormal development was caused by a tumor. An operation. revealed.

however. that. there was no discernable ailment. "In every respect except her physical maturity," said Dr. Karnaky, "the child is a normal little girl of five or six years." The child is 4 feet 5 1-2 inches tall, nearly a foot above other girls of her own age.

She is pretty and has brown hair and brown eyes. Dr. Karnaky said that her psychological development will be the most important feature of her future. "Her parents are being coached to tell her that her development 1s normal process. When she finds out--and that will be soon- -that she is more developed than other girls, she will want to know why" the doctor said: "At that time it will be necessary to handle her with care, for complexes of a very unfortunate Variety will appear.

(P) -A campus infirmary for men and University committee on student health service were announced today by Dr. Richard C. Foster, president of the University of Alabama. The infirmary, Dr. Foster said, is not intended to hospitalize cases of serious illness or surgical cases, but to provide better facilities for nursing and observation on the part of the university physician in an effort to prevent unfavorable developments in illness.

CAKE RECIPE (Two 9-Inch Layers) Two cups cake flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder, 1-2 teaspoon salt, cup butter or other shortening, TOMORROW'S MENU BREAKFAST: Tangerines, creamed codfish on toast, half -bran muffins, currant jelly, coffee, milk. LUNCHEON: Macaroni baked with tomato sauce, apple and celery salad, hard sugar candy, tea, milk. DINNER: Tomato Juice, tuna and olive casserole, steamed brown rice, 8-minute cabbage, sliced oranges. peanut mocha layer cake, coffee: milk. sugar, 3 eggs, separated, 1-2 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla excup tract.

sift flour once, then measure, sift together the flour. baking powder, and salt. In another bowl have butter at room temperature; then mix butter and sugar together with a spoon until light and fluffy. Separate egg yolks from whites. Beat egg yolks and add to butter mixture.

Then add about a third of the flour and then a third of the milk. Beat well after each addition and continue adding a little flour then a little milk until all flour and milk are mixed In and the batter is smooth. Add vanilla and lightly stir in the stiffly beaten egg whites. Have egg whites at room temperature when beating.
