The Jaycees are sponsoring a "Get Out And Vote" campaign on the coming amendment. The tax mess- on on the ballot, will raise the teachers' salaries, build new public schools and keep the old ones in repair without causing you to pay more taxes. A traffic safety campaign will be sponsored by the JayceeaJnSep-teinber, ''urgihlgWliitlieha to take more care in their driving and pedestrians to be more careful in crossing the streets. Fire Prevention Week will be sponsored by the Jaycees from October 5-11. The Jaycees, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, will sponsor an exhibit of booths at the Calhoun County Fair, showing products manufactured in this area.

A band of 300 white men forced hasty departure of six white tu-denti from the home of a Negro, spokesman for the students said today, because of the "interracial character" of the students work, 'SHertfrRy Cohoon oTfyrriir County reported that the group of 300 men had ordered six youthful students to leave this Eastern North Carolina town.

The groups of students, the Sheriff said, complied with the band's order within 24 hours. Sheriff Cohoon in reporting the incident, which occurred Monday, Aug. 11, said. "I don't know of any law preventing white folks living with Negroes, but I know people here don't think much of it. Columbia Police Chief J.

L. Pos- tn, who worked with Sheriff Co hoon in dispersing the crowd when 'leathered in front of the Negro's Itooit added: "It's a good thing the students left. There might have been violence." The students, members of the Fellowship of Southern Churchmen, lived at the home of S. P. Dean, former principal of the Negro High School here.

The Chapel Hill Office of the Fellowship said the group had come here to help organize and build a cooperative store for Negroes. The organization was described a a group which is opposed to racial segregation and believes in "living as Christ would live." A fellowship spokesman, who declined use of his name In the absence of Nelle Morton, its executive secretary, from Chapel Hill, said the work was the project of an annual student work camp and that all members of the group were Southerners." In Raleigh, D. R. Graham, credit union director with the State Department of Agriculture, said that when he was approached by officials of the group for a loan to finance the project, he had advised them to quti living at Dean's home and against violation of local segregation customs. He said the group did hot get the grant.
