Hobbs Predicts! 'Passage Soon On Alien Bill Congressman Wants To Jail Deportable Aliens Like Gearhart Eisler WASHINGTON, May 30. (JP) Representative Hobbs (D-Ala) pre dieted today his bill to Jail de portable aliens like Gerhart Eisler (before he got away) will come Railing out of the House Judiciary Committee this week. "It's a crackerjack bill." he said "That Eisler case ought push it right through the House and Sen ate. "It Just means that we will reclaim our independence and sovereignty." Hobbs explained to reporters that he believes a government that lacks full deportation powers also lacks independence and sovereignty. "This country," he said, "can't exercise full deportation powers as long as Russia or any other country won't grant travel orders or passports to deportable aliens.

"Why should the Russians? These aliens are too valuable to them here as agents." But he said his bill would make it possible to keep such agents from running loose In the country. It would empower the attorney general to toss them in Jail until they could be deported. Hobbs said he was "outraged" at criticism of Attorney General Clark that sprang up when Eisler escaped the country. The defect, he said, was "in our laws, not in our attorney general." Eisler once was described by th House Un-American Activities Committee as the number one Communits agent in the United States. He slipped of the country May 6 on the' Polish liner Batory.

We was out on ball while under sentences for contempt of Congress and making false statements to Immigration authorities. At the request of the American Government, Eisler was taken from the Batory In England. But a British court set him free, say- BtraThtws Cwrney Bldf. Hotel Stree i. It.
